Juno är en rymdsond från NASA som sköts upp den 5 augusti 2011 för att gå in i bana runt Jupiter. Rymdsonden inträdde i sin bana runt planetens poler 5 juli 2016 för att studera dess magnetiska fält. Juno kommer också att leta efter bevis för att Jupiter har en stenkärna och utforska hur mycket vatten som finns i atmosfären.

On July 4, after traveling 1.76 billion-miles, Juno reached its destination. Juno carries eight experiments to achieve these objectives. Juno was the second mission chosen for the New Frontiers program.

Launched in 2011, Juno is the first solar-powered spacecraft designed to operate at such a great distance from the sun. That's why the surface area of solar panels required to generate adequate power is quite large. The four-ton Juno spacecraft carries three 30-foot-long (9-meter) solar arrays festooned with 18,698 individual solar cells.
